Simple program to record and edit audio files
Audio Recorder allows users to record any audio source, whether from an external device or the computer itself, and convert the saved file to multiple audio formats.
With technology advancing at a faster rate than anyone could have imagined only a decade or two ago, it is important to find methods for preserving priceless vinyl records, audio cassettes and extensive CD collections. Audio Recorder makes the process simple with an interface that is easy to understand so even a computer novice can navigate their way through the steps.
To use the free software, you first need an external device with an audio output feature that allows you to connect the music player to your computer. Most stereos and newer record players are updated to include this feature. From there, it's just a matter of opening the Audio Recorder program, selecting the audio source, selecting the format for the newly recorded audio file and choosing the save destination.
Audio Recorder allows users to save audio files in three specific formats: MP3, WMA and WAV. The option to change the file output type can be found in the settings where there are more customization options as well.
For more advanced users, Audio Recorder allows the option of manually adjusting the gain controls by setting a preferred maximum and minimum decibel level for the recording. The quality and file size of the recording can also be adjusted via a sliding scale control. Users can further specify the frequency and choose whether they want a joint or mono stereo recording.
As for the interface of the actual program, it has a simplistic design with the designated file format, volume controls, save destination and record, pause and stop buttons all visibly marked and thus easy to identify, rendering Audio Recorder ideal for beginners or those looking for a simple program to get the job done.
